Work Line Connect^®'s standard format for transferring data between SAP^© and the MES systems is SAP^©'s proprietary IDOC format, for which a variety of monitoring and problem-handling functions are available in SAP^©.

In addition, Work Line Connect^® supports other exchange formats, that are required for various functions of the MES system HYDRA.

The structure of the software allows in principle to carry out the data exchange in any formats, e.g. also in XML file formats. For this purpose, a specialized function module will be delivered for each exchange format in a future enhancement package, which takes over the translation between the internal communication format and the exchange format specific to the function in both directions. Logging of transmitted will then be stored in this internal exchange format with regard to the monitoring functionality of the future I4 module.
